Bitcoin Accepted at Las Vegas Casinos?

Starting this week at two downtown Las Vegas casinos, visitors to Sin City will be able to pay for rooms, drinks and even food using the controversial digital currency called Bitcoin. The two casinos, owned by the same group, are the D Casino and the Golden Gate. Bitcoin will also be a payment option in the D’s gift shop.

Even though Bitcoins can be used for non gambling purchases, do not expect regulators to begin allowing these as an option on the gaming floor. The digital currency is just not trusted enough after only four years of existence even though some major retail websites are now offering this option for their goods.

Since Bitcoins are not issued by the government their value fluctuates very quickly. As a result, the D casino as well as the Golden Gate will convert them into US dollars immediately using a Bitcoin broker.
