We’re getting closer and closer to the most prestigious poker tournment in the world the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event. Players that successfully navigate the huge field cement their name in poker history forever. With the first 2 weeks of play in this years WSOP in the books, we’ve seen a lot of the world’s best poker players showing why they are the best. This is especially true of one of my favorite poker players, Phil Ivey. Last year Ivey was not focused on poker and did not have a good series but he’s laser focused this year and winning bracelets.

The first week of this year’s WSOP brought lot’s of excitement and plenty of pulse racing poker action. I would love to have the classic 1970 Corvette that Tom McEvoy won in the Champions Invitational event. I actually played in a tournament with Tom a few years ago and he beat my friend with full house over smaller full house.

We will continue to bring you updates on the winners of each event and their prize amounts. Although the money is always nice, most of these guys (and gals) are playing for the bracelets.

It’s my favorite time of the year again. It always seems to take so long to get here but as the temperature heats up in Las Vegas, so do the poker tables at the Rio Casino. Of course, I’m talking about the 2009 WSOP.

Who will win coveted bracelets this year? Will Hellmuth get his 12th? What about Doyle and Chan, will they catch him? With the large fields of players it takes great skill and a lot of luck to win these days, but the top pros are poised to win a lot of bracelets in 2009. We’ll be giving you updates on the winners of each event and just how much money they take down with their bling-bling.
